The former President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, approved the use of Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital as the Teaching Hospital and directed that a special working relationship be developed with the National Hospital. However, following our belief in the benefits of operating a Multi-Teaching Hospital Complex, the University of Abuja has begun the process of including other hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory in the Hospital Complex.
A College Statute 2007, established by virtue of section of the University of Abuja Act 1992 was evolved. This has been approved by the Senate and Council of the University of Abuja and is presently with Mr. President for assent.
