Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering

Introduction

The University of Abuja is established to forge national unity by providing a conducive environment for learning, and interaction for the youths from all parts of Nigeria. The proposed faculty will enhance the technological and economic empowerment of the country. Due to the unique position of the University as the only one located in the Federal Capital Territory, it became necessary for the introduction of Applied science programmes such as Engineering, Health Sciences, Veterinary Science and Agriculture to meet up with the demands of the immediate environment and the nation at large.

Sequel to the above, the Senate  of the University  at the 92nd regular meeting held on the 27th October 2004 approved the establishment of the new Faculty of Engineering with effect from 2005/2006 session. The Senate also approved the philosophy, objectives and curriculum and specific recommendation on each programme.                                                          

PhilosophyThe philosophy seeks to aid the acquisition of appropriate skills, abilities and competence, both mental and physical as equipment for the individual to live in and contribute to the development of the society. The programmes are therefore committed to the production of qualified and competent engineers who will be able to face challenges concomitant with the aspiration of the country to be technologically developed.

Administration                                                                                                                                                                                      Engr. Prof. F.O. Akinbode was appointed as a pioneer as pioneer Dean to coordinate the programmes and establish the framework for the successful take-off of the faculty. He provides the academic and administrative leadership for the Faculty.                                                  Other pioneer Deparmental Heads are: Dr. Tochukwu .C. Ogwueleka(H.O.D Civil Engineering) and Engr. Dr. I.M Dagwa(H.O.D Mechanical Engineering) while Alhaji Mutapha Tanimu is the Faculty Officer.

Entry Requirement 5 0'Level Credit which must include the following

  • English Language
    •                                                                         
  • Mathematics

  • Physics
    •                                                                                                                                                       
  • Chemistry
    •                                                                                                                                                          
  • and any other subject at credit level

Direct Entry
HND/OND at Upper Credit level at 200 Level in addition must have 5 Credit level for 0'Level
