The Director, Quality Assurance, University of Abuja, Professor Kareem Airede, has been awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, FRCPEdin, one of the highest specialists rewarding and recognizing bodies in the UK, founded in 1681. In a letter to Airede, Professor Sunil Bhandari FRCP Edin, Vice President (England and Wales) of the body, said, “I am very pleased to inform you that you have been nominated for election to the Fellowship of the College. It was agreed at a Council meeting held on 29 April 2020 that you should be elected to Fellowship, subject to your agreement and payment of the Fellowship Fee and annual subscription. “The date of your election will be the date of the Council meeting at which your name was approved. You will also be invited to attend a New Fellows’ Admission Ceremony and Dinner, which we hope will be held on 18 June 2021.”


As a fellow, a number of benefits will be available to the professor of Neonatology, which include copies of 4 editions of the College Journal, exclusive access to on-line education material in the restricted “Fellows and Members’ Area” of the College’s website, the opportunity to become an Examiner, and access to the College’s historic Library Airede, while reacting to the award, said, “I received Good News June 1, 2020, of the ultimate award. I praise God and thank Him profoundly for allowing the recognition of my academic works in faraway Edinburgh, UK.” In an email to Airede, dated 2nd June 2020, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, said, “You have made the great UofA proud for this superb award! Congratulations! This is a wonderful achievement and honor to the University. It is a deserving award, and I wish you the best.”
